Adrian Galvan is our male Member of the Month for December. He is a regular at our 8:30 a.m. eL FIT class and enjoys the friendly staff and members at enduraLAB. His fitness goals are to become a more proficient rower and continue to improve his overall fitness while remaining injury-free. His advice to anyone thinking about starting at the LAB is to not be intimidated. Any movement can be fully explained by any of the coaches or modified, if necessary. When Adrian isn’t showing the class his awesome toes-to-bar technique, he is enjoying a bite at Fred's Downtown Philly.

What brought you to enduraLAB in the first place? I had been working out in Dallas for the longest time because of work. Now that my work is based out of Fort Worth, I needed a local gym. My wife recommended enduraLAB.

What was your first impression? How has that changed? I immediately noticed how friendly the gym staff and members were. It didn’t take long to realize that the classes were extremely challenging.

What was your first breakthrough moment? My breakthrough moment was HELL WEEK workout that required 400 meters of 5 lunges and 5 shoulder press with 45-pound barbell. I wanted to tap out at 50 meters. With the encouragement of Coach Caroline, I was able to complete the workout.

What are your current goals at the LAB? I am working toward getting better at rowing, and eventually I would like to move to the Strength and Conditioning classes. I want to improve overall fitness and stay injury-free.

What’s your favorite enduraLAB memory? Taking private training sessions with Coach Lee. I was excited to learn proper techniques for lifts that I had been doing for years with bad form.

What advice do you have for anyone thinking about starting at enduraLAB? Don’t be intimidated by the workouts. The LAB coaches will walk you through every exercise and help with modifications, if needed.

What is your favorite movement/lift? Least favorite? I’ve enjoy learning barbell lifts like the deadlift, hang power snatch and barbell squats. I truly hate burpees.

Favorite restaurant/bar in Fort Worth? Fred's Downtown Philly on Hulen -- no judgement please.

Favorite workout song? Biggie vs. Tupac vs. The Xx - Runnin' With The Xx (QUIX vs. ELLIOT Blend).

Where did you go to college? Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania – Go Quakers!

Lauren Tatlock is our December female Member of the Month. She came into the LAB a bit intimidated by the workouts, but soon found herself looking forward to it! She enjoys the motivation and guidance she receives by the coaches. Her favorite movement is the front or back squat. Least favorite is the power snatch. Lauren’s advice to newbies is simple…try a class. Just get started, you won’t regret it! When Lauren isn’t working out she loves to grab a burger at Rodeo Goat and a beer at Martin House Brewing Co.

What brought you to enduraLAB in the first place? My husband was a member a few years back, and always spoke very highly of his experience. I spent the last three years in school studying, and finally decided it was time to refocus on getting back into shape. The LAB seemed like the perfect place to start!

What was your first impression? How has that changed? I was very intimidated at first. I’ve been a runner for a long time with no experience in lifting weights, and a history of avoiding new workouts. I’ve since grown a lot more comfortable with the workouts. At first I was nervous about what class would consist of, and now I look forward to it! Everyone does a great job of both guiding and motivating when needed.

What was your first breakthrough moment? I believe it was within the first week or two we did a timed 1000m ski. It was incredibly difficult for me. I barely finished, and wasn’t sure I would recover... We repeated timing that same distance a month or two later, and while it still felt incredibly difficult, I was shocked at how much faster I was able to finish and recover. It was a great gauge for how far I’ve come.

What are your current goals at the LAB? My goal when joining the LAB was to increase my overall strength. I’m only living in Fort Worth for a short time, so I plan on attending a minimum of five classes per week in order to get the most out of my time here.

What advice do you have for anyone thinking about starting at enduraLAB? Just go try a class! As annoyingly simple as that sounds, and I know because I heard those words multiple times from my husband.... However, now that I’ve finally gotten started, I regret that I didn’t begin sooner. It may feel intimidating walking through the door for the first time, and you are going to be sore afterwards. Just know you will push through and grow to love it.

What is your favorite movement/lift? Favorite movement is either front or back squat. Least favorite is probably power snatch.

Favorite restaurant/bar in Fort Worth? Rodeo Goat or Martin House Brewery.

Favorite workout song/music? Right now, High Hopes by Panic! At The Disco.

Where did you go to college? TCU!
