Matt dove right into enduraLAB on one of the hardest weeks of the year - Hell Week. He hasn't stopped since. Since joining the LAB he has increased his strength and stamina. While he sticks to the outer edge of the rig and stays pretty quiet, don't let that fool you. He is extremely competitive (in a good way) and is perfecting his form and technique every single day. One of Matt's favorite things about working out with us is the community. Well, we are so glad he is a part of it.
What brought you to enduraLAB?
My friend Nathan Randel was always talking about how much he enjoyed EnduraLAB. Hearing about the coaching and community had me convinced to give this a shot. My first week at the LAB was Hell Week; I signed up immediately after.
What did your workout routine look like before joining the LAB?
I was working out 3-4 times a week at a local gym. I was committed, but I lacked in form/technique, cardio and neglected to create more of a long term fitness plan.
What healthy changes have you made since joining the LAB?
The biggest change is my mindset. The programming at the LAB caused me to think more about my overall fitness and how important it is to play the long game. I used to focus on obtaining immediate results in a few specific areas, which caused me to overlook a lot of other key areas. Eating habits also changed for the better.
Tell us what you do outside of the LAB?
I’m on staff at Travis Avenue, a local church here in Fort Worth. As a college minister, I love working with students. I’m always finding new restaurants in the city and looking for the next place to travel. Currently taking travel tips for a late summer trip to Alaska.
How have you grown as an athlete since joining the LAB? Brag a little.
Increased strength and stamina; a lot of PR’s.
What is a goal you have set for yourself in the next 6 months?
Kipping pull ups…I’m coming for ya.
What is your favorite enduraLAB event or program?
The 8:30 class is hard to top! Best event is Hell Week, it’s a great way to measure progress + invite friends to suffer alongside, I mean.. crush workouts alongside you.
What advice would you have for a new person starting at enduraLAB?
Focus on form/technique and log your results in SugarWOD. Heavier weights and results will follow.
Favorite treat meal/restaurant in D/FW?
Eatzi’s is my go to…
Any final words or thoughts?
I love the LAB. The coaching, programming and community is unmatched. I’m grateful to be a part of this!
