What brought you into enduraLAB in the first place? It was time to make a change in managing stress and increasing energy. I have three boys (6, 4 and 2) and wanted to build an active lifestyle where my energy level would outlast theirs!
How did you exercise before enduraLAB? Tried a bunch of activities: CrossFit, gym and running - but nothing stuck.
What healthy changes have you made since starting enduraLAB? EnduraLAB has helped me understand the investment I make on my physical body impacts a lot of other areas of my life: mental clarity, energy and attitude.
Tell us what you do outside of the LAB? My wife and I own a design + build company, High Street Homes. We are believers in the power of great design to help make the most of every moment. You can follow our adventures @brettandkara.
How have you grown as an athlete since joining the LAB? I have lost 10 lbs and increased my strength significantly. My energy level and ability to manage stress through physical activity has been the greatest gift!
What is a goal you have set for yourself in the next 6 months? The next year? A goal I have set is to get more sleep and drink more water. Coach Roman emphasized how important recovery is for our body and I have not been the best at recovering.
What are your thoughts on the 28-Day Challenge? The 28-Day Challenge was a really nice way to jump start the new year. Building lasting habits and having the additional support from Coach Roman was very empowering.
What advice would you have for a new person starting at enduraLAB? Build relationships with the coaches and the other members. The knowledge and kindness of the community is something really unique. Also, push through the discomfort. Everyone is at a different physical ability, so don't worry about what time you finish or if you lift a different weight - you are on your own journey. Just keep showing up - you will see the change.
Favorite cheat meal/restaurant in D/FW? In-N-Out - I am from Southern California so it feels like a little bit of home.
