What brought you into enduraLAB in the first place? When I turned 50, my wife signed me up as a birthday present. This was a not so subtle hint from my wife that I had not been taking care of myself like I should. I believe Coach Lee still has some “before” pictures which I hope he is unable to find. As it turns out, it was one of the better gifts I have ever received.
I met Lee on New Year’s Day for an initial consultation and I liked him from the start. It is not often that you have an engineer/MBA who is focused on training, nutrition and recovery. At that time, the LAB was located on 7th Street in a small space next to a tanning salon. Lee was still working full time for Lockheed, and he and Isis were working very hard to build what is now the best gym in Fort Worth.
How did you exercise before enduraLAB? I ran on my own and lifted some but I was not consistent.
What healthy changes have you made since starting enduraLAB? I have made many healthy changes since joining enduraLAB. My workouts are more consistent and varied, my nutrition is better, and I am better at “recovering” from the workouts.
Tell us what you do outside of the LAB? I have worked for many years as a lawyer specializing in energy work. Recently, I have spent most of my time managing a family office in Fort Worth.
How have you grown as an athlete since joining the LAB? Since joining the LAB, I have run four marathons and many half marathons, set PRs in deadlift, bench and squats, increased the number of pull ups/push ups/dips. I feel like I am in the best shape of my life and feel great.
What is a goal you have set for yourself in the next 6 months? The next year? I am currently focused on completing a strict Murph in May. Longer term, I want to drop my body fat percentage and improve overall fitness and health.
If there was a workout named after you, what would it consist of? It would be some combination of deadlifts/bench/pull ups/running. Definitely no Burpees!
What is your favorite enduraLAB event? I love the long run on Saturday mornings and the destination ½ marathon trips. I also like the 21-Day Challenge.
What is your favorite enduraLAB program/cycle? My favorite is Strength+Conditioning group class and specifically the Strength Cycle.
What advice would you have for a new person starting at enduraLAB? Don’t be intimidated. There are a lot of exceptional athletes at enduraLAB and it is easy to start comparing yourself. Just show up and do what you can and “compete” only with yourself. Also, try to meet as many people as possible and try as many programs as possible. I have made many good friends at the LAB.
Favorite cheat meal/restaurant in D/FW? Rodeo Goat/Fred’s/Tommy’s/Kincaid’s – basically any hamburger place!
Where did you go to college? I went to Oklahoma State and then OU for law school .
