Scott came to us to build much needed muscle... (spoiler alert, we all need muscle and more important as we age). Luckily, he had heard about the LAB from trusted friends and decided to give us a try! We are happy to not only have helped Scott build in a resistance program that works, but also encouraged him to incorporate a healthy diet and even squeeze some running back into his life! Scott is not only strong and fast, he is a blast to workout with. Read more about him below!
What brought you to enduraLAB?
I have always been a runner. I had a bad fall two years ago and it forced me to take a long break from running. So after roughly 9 to 12 months of little consistent exercise, I realized I wanted to focus more on resistance training. This was mainly because every time I would go to my Chiro he would tell me how I had really weak muscles. I knew of a few people at church who go to the LAB and it looked like the perfect fit!
What did your workout routine look like before joining the LAB?
It was running and pickle ball. Very little resistance training.
What healthy changes have you made since joining the LAB?
I have focused on having a more wholistic diet. I was eating a lot of carbs and was severely deficient in my protein intake. I also struggled to eat a lot of vegetables. So I decided to eat out less and start cooking more. I force myself to have vegetables at most of my meals and an more conscious of what I buy at the store.
Tell us what you do outside of the LAB?
I love to play pickle ball and a little tennis. I also love to read. I currently have a goal of reading two books a month and it’s not going so well. Most of my family is in Tarrant county so I see them often and am a full time uncle.
How have you grown as an athlete since joining the LAB? Brag a little.
enduraLAB has helped boost my confidence in myself and my capabilities. Never in a million years did I think I would utter the words “I like deadlift day”. The LAB has helped me appreciate resistance training and being a well-rounded athlete.
What is a goal you have set for yourself in the next 6 months?
I just did the HYROX competition with Conner and it was really nice to compete in something again. I haven’t done any type of competition since high school track. I think in general, I would like to increase my bench press, deadlift and back squat all by 20%. I don’t have any specific goals beyond that. I am really enjoying where I am at right now.
What is your favorite enduraLAB event or program?
Since I’ve only been here since June of last year, I don’t think I could say yet. I am excited to see what programs we have coming up for spring and summer!
What advice would you have for a new person starting at enduraLAB?
Go all in and don’t worry about feeling weak or behind. I remember asking the dumbest questions when I first started but Blake and Zach - who I have worked with the most - are so helpful and want the very best for you. I had to remind myself to get through the first 6 months and I then I would begin to see major progress and that helped motivate me.
If we had a workout in honor of you, what would it be called and what would it consist of?
The scorcher. It would be on a track and in the summer. It would be like a ladder workout. Lots of running and you’d probably be leaning over a trash can by the end.

Any final words or thoughts?
Seriously very thankful for this gym and the community. Everyone was so welcoming when I joined and I have made great friends here! The workouts are dynamic and never too repetitive or boring.
