Meet Joe Chou, May Member of the Month

It’s time to shine the spotlight on one of our remarkable members here at enduraLAB, and this month, we’re excited to introduce you to the one and only Joe Chou! Joe may seem like the quiet type at first glance, but once you get to know him, you’ll find he’s a bundle of wit, charm, and sarcasm that adds a unique flavor to our community.

What brought you to enduraLAB?

In Joe’s own words, “I was ready to get back to group classes and start challenging myself.” After taking a break from a group fitness gym, Joe and his wife welcomed their third child and sought a fresh start. A friend’s invitation to the Holiday Hustle in 2022 was all it took to get him hooked.

What did your workout routine look like before joining the LAB?

Joe’s fitness journey wasn’t new, as he had been involved in functional fitness classes for the past decade. However, he found something special in the programming, coaching, and atmosphere at enduraLAB, describing it as the best he had experienced.

What healthy changes have you made since joining the LAB?

Taking a holistic approach to health, Joe has focused on controlling inflammation, prioritizing sleep, and maintaining a balanced diet alongside his workouts. He’s also embraced heat/cold therapy as part of his routine, recognizing the importance of investing in his long-term well-being.

Tell us what you do outside of the LAB?

Beyond the gym, Joe runs his own consulting company, finding fulfillment in his work. However, his greatest joy lies in spending time with his wife and three children, cherishing the moments they share together.

How have you grown as an athlete since joining the LAB?

Over the past 18 months, Joe has seen improvements in his technique and movement quality. He’s also learned valuable modifications to prevent injuries while building strength, crediting enduraLAB’s elite workouts for his progress.

What is a goal you have set for yourself in the next 6 months?

Joe plans to incorporate more rucking into his routine, seizing every opportunity to challenge himself beyond the gym walls.

What is your favorite enduraLAB event or program?

For Joe, it’s all about the Holiday Hustle. Not only does it kickstart his motivation during a typically indulgent month, but it also holds sentimental value as the starting point of his journey at enduraLAB.

What advice would you have for a new person starting at enduraLAB?

“Go at your own pace,” Joe advises, emphasizing the supportive community where everyone shares the common goal of improvement. And remember, saying hello might just lead to meeting your next workout buddy!

If we had a workout in honor of you, what would it be called and what would it consist of?

Introducing the "Brad Pitt is in his 60" workout, featuring a challenging combination of bench presses, deadlifts, strict presses, wall balls, and bike sprints.

Favorite treat meal/restaurant in D/FW? Current read / podcast? Pump up song?

Joe’s go-to treat spot is Hatsuyuki Handroll Bar, and he’s currently diving into the Scythe Series recommended by his wife. As for pump-up music, Hamilton never fails to get him in the zone.
