What brought you into enduraLAB in the first place? Strength training, and I wanted to lower my mile time. I did the Arlington full marathon in March, but I wasn't happy with my time. I realized that I needed to step up my game and I didn't think I could do it on my own. Also the Texas heat is an issue, so I knew I needed to move inside for part of my training.
How did you exercise before enduraLAB? Primarily just running--short to medium runs during the week and one long run over the weekend.
What healthy changes have you made since starting enduraLAB? Incorporating strength training was the biggest thing. My nutrition has been better, too. Getting up early every day to get to the gym (to get my butt kicked...can I say that?) has changed the way I feel throughout the day. I'm more focused and I've been sleeping better.
Tell us what you do outside of the LAB? I am a freelance Developmental Editor and Content Trainer for a large medical publishing company. I develop evidenced-based, online nursing content and train nurses to write for our product.
How have you grown as an athlete since joining the LAB? I think my endurance has increased--I'm able to complete EMOMs within the hard-capped time! The strength training has increased my muscle tone. I just feel stronger overall.
What is a goal you have set for yourself in the next 6 months? The next year? I am signed up for the Cowtown full. This will be my second full marathon. I'm hoping to improve my time substantially. After that, I'm not sure. I'm kind of just going with the flow. I definitely will do more races and I want to do a trail run. I'd like to check out rucking, too.
If there was a workout named after you, what would it consist of? This is a tough one. Something with running for sure. Whatever that gets me sweating and really working hard.
What is your favorite enduraLAB event? I like the Thursday’s off-site social run events. They’re so fun and everyone in Run Club is so nice and encouraging.
What is your favorite enduraLAB program/cycle? Right now, I’m liking Run Club, eL Fit, and ENDURABILITY.
What advice would you have for a new person starting at enduraLAB? Do all the things. Take as many different classes as you can to see what you like and what works best for you. If you’re into running, jump in on the Thursday Social Runs. The community aspect is really awesome.
Favorite cheat meal/restaurant in D/FW? My Lan Vietnamese off Beach St. in Fort Worth. Their Phở, (with a lot of jalapeños) is the best I’ve had in Fort Worth.
Where did you go to college? TCU
